Joey White and Paul Gareau have been close friends for more than 25 years and longtime business partners. Through Paul’s wife, Maria, who is from Nicaragua, cigars became a meaningful part of their journey. Over the years, regular trips to Nicaragua gave them the opportunity to bring cigars back to Canada and deepen their appreciation for the craft.
Like many cigar enthusiasts, Paul first entered the market believing he was finding premium cigars at great value. With time, he discovered that the cigar world can sometimes be filled with lower-quality and counterfeit products. That experience shaped the foundation of what we stand for today: authenticity, knowledge, and an uncompromising standard for quality.
Driven by the desire to find the real thing, Paul visited a cigar factory in Nicaragua, where he was introduced to Daniel Guerrero, master blender and owner of El Viejo Continente. What began as a conversation soon became a shared vision, to bring Daniel’s authentic, expertly handcrafted cigars to Canada.
Today, we are proud to offer El Viejo Continente in Canada. Inspired by traditional European cigar culture and handmade in Nicaragua using carefully aged tobaccos, these cigars offer a refined, balanced, and complex smoking experience.
